🌸⚾️ PROUD MOMS RAISE SPARTANS ⚾️🌸

The Spartans 11U celebrated Mother’s Day in style Sunday afternoon, cruising to an 8-0 shutout victory over the Warriors 11U at OTLL behind dominant pitching, aggressive baserunning, and flawless defense.

The Spartans struck early in the first inning after Danny G and Evan T each worked bases-loaded walks before John W ripped a two-run single to put the Spartans firmly in control. Jack Berenato added to the lead in the third with an RBI single as the Spartans continued to pressure the Warriors all game long.

John W was electric on the mound, tossing 5 shutout innings while allowing just 1 hit and striking out 7. The Spartans defense backed him every step of the way, turning in a clean game with zero errors and steady play across the field.

Offensively, the Spartans left plenty of runners stranded but stayed patient at the plate, drawing 8 walks and constantly creating pressure. Jeff B led the hit parade going 2-for-2, while John W and Evan T each drove in 2 runs.

The Spartans also wreaked havoc on the bases with 8 stolen bases on the day. Colin M, Quinn M, and Kyle K each swiped multiple bags as the Spartans stayed aggressive from first pitch to final out.

A special thank you goes out to all of the amazing Spartans moms who make days like this possible. 💕 Happy Mother’s Day from Spartans Baseball!

Next up: Spartans 11U return home Sunday for a doubleheader against Holmdel Hornets Blue 11U.

Spartans Drop Tight Battle to South Wall Storm, 5-3
Ocean Spartans 9U fell to South Wall Storm 9U 5-3 on Friday in a hard-fought game where the bats just couldn’t get going against a sharp pitching performance.

A Quick Lead, Then a Climb Uphill

South Wall struck first in the top of the first, with Griffin A tagging up to score the game’s opening run.
The Spartans answered right back in the bottom half. Capitalizing on a Storm error and a clutch RBI single up the middle from Trevor B, Ocean grabbed a 2-1 lead and looked ready to set the tone.
That momentum was short-lived. South Wall poured on three runs in the top of the second — a bases-loaded walk to Colin H, an error, and a two-run single from cleanup hitter Kellan H — to take a 5-2 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

Pitching Duel Tilts South Wall’s Way

Storm starter Ryan C was the difference-maker, dealing three innings of two-hit, two-run ball (zero earned) while punching out seven Spartans hitters. His command kept Ocean’s lineup off-balance all afternoon.

Logan S battled on the mound for the Spartans, going a full four innings and striking out four. Of the five runs he allowed, only two were earned — a sign that defense and a couple of tough breaks made the difference more than the stuff on the mound.

Spartans Bright Spots

Even with the offense sputtering, there was plenty to build on:
• Trevor B — 1-for-3 with the team’s lone RBI
• Michael P — Team-high 2 hits in 3 at-bats
• Jett V and Michael P — Multiple stolen bases each
• Team speed — Six stolen bases as a unit
• Defense — Turned a double play to keep the game within reach

Storm Standouts

Kellan H provided the muscle in the middle of South Wall’s order, going 2-for-3 with a team-high 2 RBI from the cleanup spot. Tommy B chipped in with two steals as the Storm also swiped six bags on the day.
Bottom Line

A tough one to swallow, but not a game to hang heads over. The Spartans showed fight, ran the bases aggressively, and flashed leather when it counted. Run into a starter throwing seven K’s in three innings and nights like this happen. Back to work — there’s plenty to build on heading into the next one. Let’s go, Spartans.
